It wouldn’t kill you to smile every once in a while
You’re so used to wearing that guard
Every now and then it wouldn’t hurt to grin
Life’s not that bad and times aren’t that hard
Sure you’ve seen your share
Of tough times and despair
But you’ve triumphed at one time or another
You’ve overcome pain saw the sun after it rained
And had friends that were more like your brothers

It wouldn’t kill you to smile every once in a while
You’re so used to wearing that shield
Every now and then it wouldn’t hurt to grin
It’s ok to open up and feel
Sure you’ve had hard blows
From life’s turbulent road
But each time the lesson was clear
Then you knew what not to do
Saw another day, another month, another year
